The purchase will help Amazon expand its home security and new in-home delivery service,Amazon Key, which allows couriers to enter customers’ houses to delivery packages when they aren’t home.
In a release, Amazon said it plans to work with Ring to reduce crime in neighborhoods. The company cited statistics showing that Ring doorbells reduced burglaries in neighborhoods by as much as 55%.
